Raiders, 49ers clinch AFC wild-card berth with win over 49ers

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) The Raiders and 49ers clinched their first postseason berth in back-to-back years Sunday night when the Raiders defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime at Candlestick Park.

The Raiders, who were playing for the first time since they lost to the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, have never advanced to the postseason since they reached the Super Bowl in 2007.

The 49ers have never won a playoff game.

The winning score was 28-14.

The victory tied the franchise record for a Super Bowl game and also marked the 49ers first playoff win since 2009.

The winner of this tiebreaker game will advance to the Super Series, where it will play the eventual winner of the NFC West or the eventual champion of the AFC West.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw three touchdown passes, including the game-winning touchdown to Amari Cooper.

It was Carr’s first playoff touchdown.

He also had two catches for 37 yards and two touchdowns.

Raiders running back Maurice Jones-Drew had four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.

The loss tied San Francisco’s record for most playoff wins in a season, which was set by the 1996 Buccaneers.

This is the third time in the last four years that the Raiders have been swept by the 49er team.

They were swept in 2015 by the Rams and in 2014 by the Giants.

They won the AFC North in 2015.

This game was played in the Superdome, which is located near the stadium.

The Seahawks have won three Super Bowls.

The last time Seattle and the Raiders met in the playoffs was in 2011, when Seattle won the NFC championship and Oakland was swept by Denver.

The Seattle-Oakland game will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1.

It will be the first playoff game between the two teams since 2009, when the 49ERS beat Seattle in Superbowl XXXIV.

The NFL’s commissioner announced the game and the Seahawks’ victory on Twitter.

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio tweeted a photo of the Raiders celebrating.

The San Francisco-Oakama game is the first meeting between the 49s and Raiders since the 2009 playoffs, when they lost in the NFC Championship Game to the Falcons.

This will be Jones-Donald’s first career playoff game, but the Raiders had a winning record in each of his previous three seasons in Oakland.

He has won two Super Bowl rings with the 49.

Carr has completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 566 yards and six touchdowns.

The Broncos’ Justin Simmons has rushed for 105 yards and four touchdowns.

He had three catches for 28 yards.

The win was Raiders coach Andy Reid’s first postseason victory.

He lost in overtime to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Thursday night’s wild-ball playoff game in San Francisco.

He is the only coach to win three straight playoff games in the NFL.

The Chargers won their first playoff home game of the season.

The teams play again at home Thursday night against the Seattle 49ers.
