New York City FC and Real Madrid announced the addition of All-Stars for the 2017 MLS All-Tournament team on Tuesday.
Both clubs will face off in the final round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Sunday at New York’s Yankee Stadium.
“We’re very proud to announce the addition to the 2017 All-American All-League Team,” said NYCFC Head Coach Jason Kreis.
“With a wealth of international players from all over the world, the inclusion of All Stars is an honor for us.
The 2017 All American All- League Team is a great showcase for our players and we are excited to have the opportunity to showcase the quality and depth of players we have in our roster.
All of the players who are playing are all very accomplished in the All-Time MLS All Time XI.
We have players who were in the MLS All Star Game, the MLS SuperDraft and the MLS Cup Final, as well as players who have played in the U.K. Cup, UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup and other international competitions.”
Real Madrid will have to overcome the likes of David Villa and Arjen Robben to get onto the final All-star team.
Real have already been named to the FIFA All-World Team for the third consecutive year.
The Real Madrid-NYCFC matchup kicks off at 8:30 pm ET on Sunday, June 27.
